A NEW DAY FOR MAN ABOUT TOWN

Hello there!!! This is Janis blogging today here at Upsy Daisy. Due to postal issues, I haven't gotten my stash of new lines yet so instead, I decided to do the March's Sketch Challenge using the A New Day line.

Here's my take:

A NEW DAY

UDD Products used: Papers: #ND011. Believe, #ND013. Faith, #ND014. Hope, #ND015. Inspire, #ND016. Promise, Brad: #EMB006. New Day.

I was able to make this flower by stacking different sizes of heart diecuts out of the Promise Paper . The layers are held together by one of the coordinating brads.

I did the same layering of heart diecuts here, except that I also used clear acetate material which were embossed with polka dot embossing folder and lightly painted with pearl acrylic paint.

I was not ready to put away my scraps yet so I played some more and created these cards:

Bring on the Spring!

I grew up as a child mostly near Chicago – and boy did we have snow!  Needless to say, when our family finally moved to Atlanta when I was in 6th grade – I was so glad to be done with snow!  Of course, not many people realize that Atlanta winters can be very cold, windy, and just plain yucky.  A few years ago, my husband and I lived in Tucson, AZ and we loved it!  I told my daughter (who was 4 at the time), “Oh honey, we won’t get snow here in Tucson… it’s the desert.”  Well, I was proven a “silly mommy” when we had 3-4 inches of snow for just one day in Tucson.  I couldn’t believe it!  I had to go out and take photos of the cactus with snow on them!
Soon after, my husband was transferred to Atlanta and I was not thrilled to leave the warm Arizona winters (except for the ONE day of snow!) and the beautiful sunsets.
So today, on one of the first days of spring here in Atlanta, I wake up and we have snow flurries.
I am so thrilled that our projects for Upsy Daisy Designs this month include the new “Blossom” line!  If it doesn’t feel like springtime outside, it can feel like it in your scrap space with these beautiful papers!!  I decided to make some springtime cupcakes that I saw in an idea book with the “Blossom” papers, and also a springtime layout (the layout is below in Kim's post).  Hope you enjoy them and are having springtime weather soon!!

You Blossom!

Vogue ís a trés chic collection and it inspired me to create something unique. So, here I present you an alter that I myself am in love with it!!!

The Blossom Collection inspired me the most with it's colours scheme, brown and pink, and beautiful patterns that match my little Princess , so that I decided to play with a black and white picture, something I almost never do. The result? This charming French vintage look layout. The paper flower, following the March callenge, I made with my UDD paper scraps. Hope you enjoy it, just as much as I did.

This month I introduce to you a great Brazilian designer that was one of the first Brazilian scrappers to inspire me the most, since I first started scrapping, about 3 years ago. Kaká's major is Laws, but these days she lives out of scrap, yes, lucky her!  Besides being a great, great scrapper, she is a superb Photographer. Her main inspiration is her only daughter, Mariana, and she makes beautiful, delicate and very creative projects for classes, magazines, publications and events. This project, rarely exception, she made with pictures from a friend's daughter. Work done with Circle of Friends Collection. I am sure this work will inspire you girls!

Monthly Sketch - March 2010

Welcome to our brand new blog feature: The monthly Daisy Sketches!

Many of us love using sketches as the first point of inspiration, so why not combine this with your favourite Upsy Daisy Designs papers?

** click on any images to see them larger **

I really love the colour combination of BLOSSOM - the brown, with the soft mint and pink have my name written all over them :). You can never go wrong with that combination, I believe, as it is so versatile and certainly not restricted to a specific time of year.

UDD Products used:
Papers: #BLO012. Freshly Picked, #BLO013. Orchard, #BLO014. Precious, #BLO015. Spring Breeze, #BLO016. Spring is in the Air
Rub Ons: #UDD186. It's A Girl Thing, #UDD0123. Basic Brown Alpha, #UDD0079. Sweet Slumber Alphas
Stamps:  #UDD209. Girl friends, #UDD210. My Guy, #UDD0106. Floral Flourishes
Brads:  #BRD311. Blossom, #EMB007. Walk in the Park

Check out what DT Member Grace did with this month's sketch - isn't this layout beautiful?

And how fun is this super cute layout from DT Coordinator Lacintha? I love that picture, makes me want to ruffle the hair even more :)

Spring has certainly decided to raise its beautiful head, as showcased in this uber-pretty layout by DT Member Andrea.

Now, take a moment to look at this cuteness from DT Member Julia - isn't this layout just to die for?

I adore how DT Member Sandi, layered the different papers and added little elements here and there for depth and texture...gorgeous

And there is more...oh yes - DT Member Janis absolutely rocked the A New Day line with this layout. It makes me want to get all my stash out and create another layout for the sketch.

So, what do you think? Would you like to play along with us and create a layout based on the above sketch? Use your favourite UDD products and link us to your creation within the comments section of this post no later than 25 March 2010, so we can leave you some love...and give a shout out to our fave layout! It could be YOUR time to be in the spotlight as I will be choosing my personal favourite from all your submission to be featured here, on the blog!
