Hello everybody - this is Kim S posting today.
Now that we have all well and truly settled in the New Year and taken down all the Christmas decorations it is already time to think about Valentines Day!
For 2009 I have set myself the challenge to use up as much of my papers as I possibly can. What better way to combine this with my Blog-Challenge for you, as I have used just scraps of paper for this cute accordion folded display.

If you scrap, like me, mainly in 8,5 x 11 you will most probably have lots of 3,5 x 12 strips of paper floating around, right? Well, the above display was made from one of said strips - kinda nifty, hu? If you want to get the best use out of your scrap-stash, then have a look at my step-by-step guide. I am pretty confident that you will enjoy using up your scraps!
Step 1:
Take a 3,5 x 12 strip of patterned paper
Step 2:
Score the sheet on 2" intervals and bend them in accordion style. Decide which side of the double sided paper should be on display and score along the length of the strip another 1" line. Bend this one forward. As I had decided I wanted a scalloped border, I punched the edge of the 1" fold BEFORE I continued with the next step.
Step 3: Place strip of double-sided tape along the creases of the 2" score marks but ensure you do this on the 1" fold-over part. This way you will create small "pockets" in which you can place pictures, tags, money (if using this as a gift card). You can skip this step if you do not want any pockets and just glue the 1" fold-over straight onto the background.
Now you can start to work with the base of this display as your heart desires. I have chosen to distress the edges with a distressing tool and some ink and add tags and chipboard letters to my display. If you chose to make a display like this following the step-by-step guide, please do link us back to your project so we can leave you some love :)
