I'm so excited to be the person to share with you a challenge for this month.
But before that let me share with you a project I made using some fun Upsy Daisy Designs products....
For You Treat Container I recycled a scrapbook product packaging and turned it into a candy container. This package used to hold chipboard alphabets. I covered the back (where the manufacturer info were) with pattern paper from the Cupcake line and made a paper wrap that went all the way around the project using cardstock, more papers and ric rac.
To cover the part where you can hang up your box with, I punched out more papers with my 1/2" circle puncher, adhered a whole row of it and then added some stamped flowers from the Girlfriends stamp set. I also finished it off with brads from the Blossom pack and pearls (from my own stash
I used the big circle stamp from the Girlfriends stamp set to create my title block and then added some letter rubons. I added more flower stamps on this too.

So now that I've shown you what I did....I "challenge" you to do the same.....repurpose a scrapbook packaging into something new! Don't limit yourself to using just the packaging, you can cut it up and use parts or all of it into a layout or card.

hHi all. As most of you know by now, we are changing things up a bit here at the Daisy Diaries blog for the year 2011. The fourth Monday post will be allotted for technique or product showcase.
I'm very honored to be the first one in this year to share my showcase and I chose product.
Over the last two CHA's, Upsy Daisy Designs have features specific papers in their new lines with journaling blocks and quote strips. This is one of my favorites in each line and I decided to share with you what I did with the Avalanche's Summit paper.

In my page, I decided to put my focus on one photo. I think the picture of my dad and daughter is so precious that it deserved a full page just for it. Anyways, I used the wipeout paper as my background because I love the neutral color but the distressed design gave it some pop.
I then layered some of my favorite strips from the line. I loved the "there is only one you" quote that I decided to make that my title.
with the smaller blocks like this clock above, I added it as an embellishment, filling the middle with a flower and a UDD brad.
I used my daughter's shirt color as a visual triangle element and matched it with my two flowers on the page. I added another UDD brad in my layered flower above.
As you can see, there are so many possibilities with the Summit paper. You can use most of it in one page, like what I did here or just spread them around to a few pages or even a mini. For an example of this, check my blog. I posted a mini using the same paper lines.
Hello everyone and happy Monday. Today I would like to share with you how I made my easy peezy but cute Ice cream embellishment that I used in this page....
this was the page I made using Kim's October sketch. Make sure you check it out here and if so incline play along. We always look forward to seeing what people do with Kim's great sketches.
Ok so onto the tutorial. Here's what you'll need...
Papers
1" circle punch
bone folder or popsicle stick
sand block/paper
paper trimmer
*I adhered my ice cream with pop up adhesive so that it'll add dimension to the page.
*Papers are from the Circle of friends line and brads are from the "New Day" collection.
and I can't leave without sharing another easy peezy project that is Halloween inspired.
Halloween cupcake toppers
I used some dingbats to create my "spooky and silly" faces. I printed them off and colored them in with color pencils.
I then used some papers from the Enchanted line for the backs of each topper. I love the dark purple hues of that line. I think it totally coordinates with any Halloween project. After that, I added some orange glitter and ribbon, then placed them all on a popsicle stick and added to my cupcakes. Now how easy can that get?!

I did the kissing stamp technique here using a bunny stamp (from my stash) and adding this stamp to add the swirls.
Spring is all about the flowers so I made sure I get as much flowers in this card as I can. I cut them out with the Cricut machine. I also added some brads on the bigger flowers as centers. The card sentiment block was made with this stamp and this letter rubon.
So there you have it. Hope my card share brought some "spring" to your week.

Hi everyone. I feel so lucky that I'm the DT that gets to greet you guys a "happy New Year!" first. Gosh can you believe that we're in a new year, let alone a new decade?!
But with a new year comes that time were we all (admittingly or not) reflect on ourselves. What we've done, what we could've done and what we won't do. You know what I mean.... that big R word that everyone's throwing out there at this time every year. Yes I'm talking about RESOLUTIONS. So what will it be for you? The usual ones...... loose weight? save more? give more?
Well I've thought about mine and besides the "usual ones", I've also added that I will try to get back to writing more in my journal. Here's a page using some great Upsy Daisy products reflecting this goal of mine.
Unwritten. Documenting in 2010 pulled out for publication
I decided to go with the elegant papers of the Enchanted line. I love the monochromatic feel of the papers using all kinds of hues of lavender.

I love this rubon from the Unwritten pack. It summed up my goals in one fantastic phrase. I punched out some butterflies to add texture and movement to the page as well as add emphasis to the touchy sentimental journaling.

to make the picture of my many journals standout against the rest of the page, I matted it with black cardstock, added some photo corners and adhered it with some pop up dots. I added another butterfly to have a visual triangle on my page. I also used the My guy stamp to create the border on my page.
Another thing that people will be thinking about this month is organization. It seemed like we never ran out of things to put away or dates to forget. I have to be honest with you, that I am not that great with organization yet so I don't have any great tips to share that will change your life, but I do have a project that hopefully will spark something that will keep a part of your life in order, even if it's just for now......
This was a recycled chocolate box that I got for Christmas. I love recycling things around the house. I covered all the sides with paper and added ribbon and a title block to finish the front.
I love making cards but somehow never had anywhere neat and "organized" place to put them. In this box, I was able to store some birthday cards that I whipped up recently. I love that this box will hold all my cards that I recently made and when I'm in need of a card to send to a love one, I know exactly where to go to get one. Gosh I love the idea of finding a "home" for everything.
So that's it. I hope I was able to inspire you with some ideas to jumpstart your creativity this year. Making goals or resolutions is always a great start for your year and making something pretty to remind you of that, might just be the little nudge that you need to keep your goals, whatever that might be!

Anyways, I was given the assignment to use one of our great Christmas collection for my project and I chose the Spirit collection. I love the colors and the patterns are great to use for backgrounds but also there's fun prints that you can cut up to make your own embellishments.
Hark the Angel frame PULLED OUT FOR PUBLICATION
The idea to make this frame really started with the "joy" paper. I love the image of the angel with wings and trumpet!
Here's a little peek of the process.....
First I gathered my supplies. I love, love, love Upsy Daisy's double sided pattern papers. I get more designs and inspirations from a collection. I got my frame from my local store and the best part...it only cost me a buck! PULLED OUT FOR PUBLICATION
Next I primered my frame with white paint. This will give my edges a clean finished look. PULLED OUT FOR PUBLICATION
Third, I measured my frame and cut out pattern paper to go on top of the frame. I used a liquid adhesive to adhere the paper. PULLED OUT FOR PUBLICATION
Fourth, I made a couple of strips of paper to create a border and sewn a ruffled ribbon onto it before adhering the whole border onto my frame. PULLED OUT FOR PUBLICATION
Fifth, I added some leaves, a stamped circle to house my angel and then the angel. I created some subtle texture to the angel by spraying it with glimmer mist before adhering with a dimensional adhesive. PULLED OUT FOR PUBLICATION
Then I gathered some fun Upsy Daisy rubons and made my frame title. I made some mistakes while transfering all my letters (my fault and not because of the product) so I covered my booboo's with brads. PULLED OUT FOR PUBLICATION
Finished it off with a ribbon to hang my frame. I used my husband's industrial stapler for this, but I'm sure you can use a small nail or glue gun for it too. PULLED OUT FOR PUBLICATION
So there you have it. A quick project that you can make for yourself or can even be a great homemade gift for the holidays.
