Applesauce and School Memories...

It's that time of year again, isn't it? The pencilcases are packed, the new lunch boxes are chock full of goodies and the mums shed tears at the school gate as they wave goodbye to their
little ones.......
Of course, the start of the school year is one of the best times to start scrapping pages - all those perfectly cute smiles and little backpacks.
Here's a shot of my tribe as my eldest two sons get ready for their first day of school this year.

Exciting Times at UDD

Hey Everyone!

There is a lot going on at UDD! First of all there is an exciting contest to tell you all about!! Get those old Halloween pictures out and put them to good use. Check out the details on the website. Submissions will be accepted until September 15th at info@upsydaisydesigns.com. There is a prize to be won!!

We are also looking for two new members for our fabulous design team. The call is open from September 1-30. Details are on the website. We can't wait to see all those great layouts!!

Gotta Go Back

Back to school that is. Last week, I officially became a mom of a 7th grader. I can't believe just how quickly time flies.

I used the papers from the Vroom line. It's such a great line for boys. I love the way the black & white photo really stands out here. For a fun touch, I cut out the circles from the Vroom Vroom paper to make photo corners.

It's almost that time....

It's almost time to start thinking about back to school!! A big change in my household this fall, my youngest dd is heading to high school - ack! Although she is more than ready, I don't know if I am! I used the adorable "Tweet" collection for this layout, I just love the contemporary colour scheme and fun patterns! Are your kids starting to get ready to head back? Have you done your back to school shopping yet?? Enjoy the last few weeks of summer!

Inchie Card

Inchies are a wonderful way to use up your little scraps and they look really fun on a card or tag :)

Inchies are a 1 inch by 1 inch collage! They are perfect for little embellishments or the cute little cupcakes that are found on the *tear off* portion of the cupcake line!

To create the little card...

1. Trim a portion of the "Sweet" paper to 5 3/4" X 4". Cut scallops in the bottom area and punch holes. Fold in half horizontally.

2. Using "Scrumptious", cut 3, 1" squares and then using "Sprinkles" cut 3, 3/4" squares. Ink the edges if desired and attach the "Sprinkles" squares to the "Scrumptious" squares.

3. Cut out three of the little cupcakes found at the bottom *tear off* portion of the Cupcake line. Using popdots attach them the centre of your *Inchie*.

4. Attach Inchies to the front of your card. Tie a ribbon around the top and for fun add a little safety pin with some beads added (a friendship pin ♥)

Shabby or graphic?

I got a little shabby on this "For my friend" gift bag! All I do to get my shabby look is dry brush a little white acrylic paint on all my patterned paper edges. I had this 3D chipboard cherry in my scrapbooking stash and was able to match it perfectly to the papers in the Cupcake line! I so love it when that happens.

And, the Vroom line is seriously cute for little boys! I kept this card design fairly simple with clean lines. The wavy line and arrow provide movement to keep your eyes going.

Whether the look you're going for is shabby or graphic, Upsy Daisy Designs has something for everyone!

Sweet Cupcake!

Ever had one of those days in summer when you can just lounge around outside, playing with the kids, relaxing with a cool drink and soaking in the warmth?
I've got to tell you, over here in Australia that seems like a dream at the moment! LOL - we are in the middle of winter here. And yet, with the typically strange Aussie climate, we are having glorious warm days when we can play outside for hours, soaking up the sun.

So here is a layout to celebrate the two things I love most - warm, sunny days and taking photos of my kids.




And some close up shots of the details....





How about having a try at making some of those little flowers yourself? Just punch out some circles from cardstock, and then cut some wedges into the centre and voila! Layer them for a cute flower shape.

And I don't know about you, but I am a complete sucker for pretty, girly paper. These papers are from the CUPCAKE line and they are so cute! Spots, Dots and Scalloped borders - what more could you ask for in creating that perfect bright and cheerful page?

Add some of the coordinating RUB ONS and you are good to go!
