Hello everyone!!! This is Janis bringing you lots of blooming (literally!!! LOL!!!) ideas today. I finally got my package of new Upsy Daisy releases - - so I started creating as soon as I got hold of these yumminess!!!
The DT members were challenged to use Kim's sketch here using any of the three new lines with the Metallic Blossom Brads as the special ingredient. I looked at the papers and figured I'd go with Vogue in showcasing the brads. I soooooo love the floral designs on this line that I actually cut out almost all the flowers that I found on these Diva and Chic papers and used them on my two layouts!!!
Here's my first layout using Kim's May sketch (that's my dear sister on the photo!!!!) :
UDD Products Used: #VO011. Catwalk, #VO012. Chic, #VO013. Diva, #VO014. Fashionista, #VO015. Runway, #VO016. Strike a Pose, #BRD314.Metallic Blossom Brads.
Used this "Strike a Pose" caption as my title (I framed it using the filmstrip chipboard from Buzz and Bloom).
I teared the Runway patterned paper to reveal the beautiful design at the back!!!
Flowers galore!!! I layered the flower cut outs, curled the petals a bit and held them together with the Metallic Blossom Brads!!!
For my second layout, I changed the brads I used and went with Walk in the Park Fabric Brads. The photos show my dear daughter Nat with my niece Twinkle:
UDD Products Used: #VO011. Catwalk, #VO012. Chic, #VO013. Diva, #VO014. Fashionista, #VO015. Runway, #VO016.Strike a Pose, #EMB007. Walk in the Park, #UDD0106. Floral Flourishes. Sketch is from Pages in Time's May 20 Thursday Sketch of the Week.
Used this "Friends Forever" tag as my title...
Notice those stamped floral flourishes peeking out on my floral cluster? I also found the Floral Flourishes clear stamp on my package (I sooooo love this one!!!!!!!) so I figured I'd use it also on my layout. Initially I didn't know where I want them, so I just stamped on a clear transparency and cut them out. I found that this trick made it easier for me to know where to place them on my layout.
Hope I inspired you to play with your Upsy Daisy products with my layouts!!! I will be back blogging here in June 14 with another new line of Upsy Daisy goodness so stay tuned!!!!
Have fun creating,
Janis

Past and Present...
For this week's layout, I really wanted to do a past/present layout and realized I had these two beautiful photos of my daughter, one taken at age three and one taken this year at (almost) age 8. They are both face shots of her with her dance costume and makeup on, which made them "match" visually.
The soft look of Upsy Daisy Designs "Blossom" paper line was perfect for this layout, but I also mixed in some from the "Enchanted" line (the background) and the "Cupcake" line (the pink). Some of the larger pink and brown circles are from the "Circle of Friends" Upsy Daisy Designs line. It was fun to see how well these papers looked together .... and also realize how much just my daughter's face has "matured" in 5 short years!
I also used Upsy Daisy Designs rub on letters (in brown) for most of the title and some rub on flowers that were also included on the "Basic Brown Alpha" rub ons. The stamp you see under the title "Dance" is an Upsy Daisy Designs clear stamp (love those!!) from a pack called "Floral Flourishes." I used my sewing machine for the light brown zig-zag edge on the left of the pink paper. I like it when layouts look pretty and simple (or classic) but they also have some little unique touches to make them more interesting than at first glance.
Hope you like it!

May Challenge
First Project done by myself, Julia Sáddi, with Kim's May Sketch.
Supplies: Upsy Daisy Designs papers. Details made with the "Blossom" collection, background made with the dots paper "Everglades" from the "See you later Alligator" collection - borders cut out with scallop shape and hand painted with white ink.
Second Project done by my friend Paty Proença, another great Brazilian designer. As Paty is a mother of 2 handsome gentleman, : ) I gave her a "See you later Alligator" kit, together with Kim's May Sketch and she came out with this astonishing layout! Wow, Paty, thank you!!! To see more of her work: http://scrapbypaty.blogspot.com/ Big Hug to you all, girls!!!
Love, Julia Sáddi

Monthly Sketch - May 2010
Are you enjoying the monthly sketches?
I find they generally give me the final piece of inspiration I need to get creative, even if my layouts never quite turn out the same way as I intended when starting...
So, let's see what we have in store for you, this fine May:
All {{ UDD DT members}} could choose their favourite of the three new lines to interpret the sketch and in addition should make use of the wonderful new {{ Metal Brads }}
Here is my version:
Papers: #BLO015. Spring Breeze, #BLO014. Precious, #BLO012. Freshly Picked - {{ all BLOSSOM LINE }}
Rub Ons: #UDD194. Planes, Trains and Automobiles, #UDD124. Classy Brown - Alpha (8x8)
Brads: #BRD314. Metallic Blossom
DT Member JULIA also used the BLOSSOM line in combination with ALLIGATOR and I love how she created her own scalloped border on the #SYLA013. Everglades paper.
DT Members GRACE and ANDREA both used papers from the VOGUE line and showcase perfect just how differently the same paper line can be used, just by flipping the patterned side over.
DT Member SANDI made her focal point really stand out from the background by cutting along the outline of the #SYLA011. A is for Alligator paper and mounting it on a piece of 12 x 12 hessian. Sandi also used other papers from the ALLIGATOR line.
We would love for you to have a play with our sketch and link us back to your projects within the comments section.
